Welcome to Vilnius

Vilnius, the vibrant capital of Lithuania, stands out as the number one dynamically developing city in the Central and Eastern Europe region. Arrival

The Life Sciences Center (LSC) is easily accessible from Vilnius Train or Bus Stations via trolleybus number 2, which provides a direct connection. If you're traveling from Vilnius International Airport using public transport, at least one transfer will be required, as the airport is located on the opposite side of the city.

For the most convenient route from the airport, we recommend taking bus 3G to the Mikalojaus Konstantino Čiurlionio stop. From there, transfer to trolleybus number 4 and ride to the Antakalnis stop, or transfer to trolleybus number 10 and ride to the Nemenčinės stop. The LSC is located approximately 700 meters from Antakalnis, about a 10-minute walk.

Public transport tickets can be bought directly on the bus or trolleybus with the contactless card. By tapping a contactless payment card on the validator, you will purchase a full-price 60 minute ticket for €0.90. The ticket will be activated automatically. More about this option:

Passport and Visa

Lithuania is a member of the European Union and belongs to the Schengen area.

 

Participants from outside the EU have to possess a Schengen visa (C) that allows to stay in Lithuania for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Please check your visa requirements at the website of the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania.

Time Zone

In April, Lithuania will be in Eastern European Time (EET), which is UTC+2, or Eastern European Summer Time (EEST), which is UTC+3, depending on daylight saving time.


Daylight saving time in Lithuania typically begins on the last Sunday of March and runs until the last Sunday of October. Therefore, in April, Lithuania will observe EEST (UTC+3).

Insurance

The Organizing Committee is not responsible for injuries, losses, or damages during the Conference. Participants are advised to have valid insurance. In case of Force Majeure leading to cancellation, no compensation will be provided.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted inside the conference building. Smoking is generaly banned in all indoor public spaces in Lithuania, including workplaces, restaurants, and public transport. Designated smoking areas may be available. 

About the venue

Vilnius University is the oldest and largest Lithuanian higher education institution. Since its establishment in 1579, Vilnius University has embodied the concept of a classical university and the unity of studies and research. The Vilnius University’ Life Sciences Center, established in 2016, is among leading institutions in Biochemistry and Biotechnology in Baltic states. It was comprised of three academic branches: the Institute of Biochemistry, the Institute of Biotechnology, and the Institute of Biosciences, with recent addition of EMBL Partnership Institute. In addition to advanced research facilities, LSC features a large amphitheater 340-seat auditorium, 34 smaller lecture halls, general-use classrooms & meeting rooms as well as spacious hall areas.
